The Dirt Trails Alliance, a sub-group of the Magic Valley Trails Enhancement Committee (MaVTEC), promoted off-road bicycling. Its members dreamed of a skills course that would bring the hobby to more cyclists.
MaVTEC soon found enthusiastic community partners. In June 2019, the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health awarded Twin Falls a Community Transformation Grant to help increase children’s access to physical activity and healthy foods. Some of that grant would fund the skills trails.
By 2021, as plans for the skills course took shape, a private donor joined the project. That donor wished to honor the late Viki Le Fevre, an avid bicyclist who had introduced many of her medical professional friends to the sport.
Sun Valley-based Titus Trails designed the 344-foot engineered trail to exploit Auger Falls Park’s natural topography and mimic mountain conditions. Sections for beginner, intermediate, and advanced riders are labeled.
Pulling this project together was the last project for MaVTEC. The skills course was dedicated on June 1, 2022, and is maintained by the city.
